Hello, my name is Loa. I have lived a fulfilling life, despite having sustained a spinal cord injury which left me a ventilator dependent quadriplegic when I was 18-years old. This blog contains my thoughts and musings, as well as adventures and stories from my life. Although some of my perspective has been shaped by living life with a disability, much of what I have to say is simply about life in general, because much of life is a battle, and it is important to cherish the moments that allow reprieve from the battle.
Before my injury I was a ballet dancer, avid reader, clothes obsessed, enjoyed traveling, and slightly OCD. Since my injury I have added to my interests by developing a taste for working out, cooking, crafts, and apparently writing blogs… Who knew? Life sometimes surprises you! If I have learned nothing else from my struggles in life, it is that things are not always what they appear to be, and when life seems to be taking you down one path, it may surprise you with something unexpected. These unexpected turns may be for better or worse, but learning how to navigate them is the battle all of us face in the simple daily act of living life.
Some individuals have been able to use my experiences and perspective to navigate their own struggles, whether it be with a spinal cord injury, ventilator use, or their own unique challenges. Others simply enjoy my wry sense of humor when it comes to the hand life has dealt me. Whatever perspective you are reading from, I hope you enjoy Venting with Loa.
Happy reading!
